Nature of the Service

Knox County Released Inmates is a private reference site. It is not connected with a sheriff, jail, court, corrections department, parole office, probation office, federal agency, or other public authority. It does not keep official custody or release records. Staff cannot confirm whether a person is confined or released, order a release, change a court result, file legal papers, or correct an agency record.

The site organizes links and explanatory material that can help visitors find Knox County inmate and jail-record resources, Illinois state corrections sources, notification systems, and relevant federal tools. It may also connect visitors to independent research services. An outbound link is a route to another operator, not an endorsement or a claim that the outside result is complete.

Acceptable Use Rules

You agree to use the site responsibly and in a way that does not harm people, systems, or access for other visitors. In particular, you must not:

• Use the site while violating any local, Illinois, federal, or other applicable law
• Use information to stalk, threaten, intimidate, or harass another person
• Rely on site content for hiring, housing, lending, insurance, or another prohibited eligibility decision
• Attempt to enter accounts, servers, code, data, or systems without authorization
• Operate automated bots, crawlers, scrapers, or bulk-extraction tools against the site
• Interfere with service, overload infrastructure, introduce harmful code, or disrupt access for others

Permission to browse is personal, limited, revocable, and subject to these terms. No permission is granted to bypass technical controls or reuse the service as a bulk data source.

No Consumer Reports

Knox County Released Inmates is not a consumer reporting agency under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act. It does not provide background checks, credit reports, consumer reports, or regulated screening services. Its advertising partners do not offer those services through this site. You agree not to obtain, interpret, or use site content for any FCRA-covered decision, including:

• Hiring, firing, promotion, reassignment, or another employment decision
• Tenant selection, lease approval, or another housing decision
• Creditworthiness, lending terms, or insurance rates and coverage
• Licensing, permits, or eligibility for a government program
• Any other purpose regulated by the FCRA or similar law

Official custody records can also be incomplete, delayed, sealed, expunged, corrected, or mistaken for another person. Nothing on the site is designed to establish legal eligibility or make a regulated decision.

Third-Party Websites

The site links to sheriff and corrections pages, court and government portals, release-record resources, legal-aid material, advertising services, and outside search tools. Those websites are operated independently. Knox County Released Inmates does not control or guarantee their content, search results, privacy practices, data handling, accessibility, security, fees, or continued availability. A link does not make the outside operator an agent or partner unless expressly stated.

Review the outside site's own terms and privacy policy before submitting a query, identifier, payment, message, or other information. Any dealings with an outside provider are between you and that provider.

Service Provided As Is

The site, content, links, and tools are provided “as is” and “as available,” without express or implied warranties. To the fullest extent permitted by law, no promise is made that:

• Information will be accurate, complete, current, or correctly matched
• The site or a linked service will remain continuously available
• Pages, code, systems, or transmissions will be free of errors, bugs, or security weaknesses
• A partner search will locate every relevant record or return a complete result

Custody status and public records can change at any time. Court orders, jail processing, transfers, agency updates, sealing, and data lags may affect what appears. Site content is not an official statement by the Knox County Sheriff, a court, IDOC, or any government agency. Verify material with the office that created the record.

Limits on Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, Knox County Released Inmates and its owners, operators, contributors, service providers, and content partners will not be liable for direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from access to, inability to access, reliance on, or use of the site, its content, an advertisement, a search result, or an outside link. This limitation applies even if the possibility of harm was known. Rights that cannot lawfully be waived remain unaffected.

Your Duty to Indemnify

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Knox County Released Inmates and its owners, operators, contributors, service providers, and content partners from claims, losses, liabilities, judgments, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your use or misuse of the site, your violation of these Terms of Use, your violation of law, or your infringement of another person's rights.

Ownership of Site Materials

Except for government records, quoted material, linked content, and other items owned by their respective rights holders, the site's original text, graphics, logos, design elements, and code belong to Knox County Released Inmates or its content partners. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, modify, create derivative works from, or commercially exploit those materials without prior written permission. Ordinary personal browsing and the limited use inherent in viewing the pages remain allowed.

Revisions to These Terms

These Terms of Use may be changed at any time to reflect new functions, providers, legal requirements, or operating practices. Revised terms take effect when posted on this page. Continued use after publication constitutes acceptance of the version then in effect. Review this page periodically if you continue to use the site.

Suspension of Access

Access may be restricted, suspended, or terminated at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice. This includes action taken to protect the service, enforce these terms, respond to misuse, comply with a legal obligation, or preserve access for other visitors. Ending access does not waive obligations that by their nature continue after termination.

Illinois Governing Law

These terms and any dispute concerning the site are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would select another jurisdiction. Any claim or proceeding must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction located within Illinois, unless controlling law requires a different forum. Use of linked public records remains subject to the laws and access rules that govern the originating record, including the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, when applicable to an Illinois public body.

Severability of Terms

If a court finds any term invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that part will be narrowed or adjusted only to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable. If adjustment is not possible, the affected part will be severed. Every remaining provision will continue in full force and effect.
